Gobble up the spotlight at the Troy Turkey Trot Costume Contest

Gobble up the spotlight at the Troy Turkey Trot Costume Contest

Organizers of the 77th Troy Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day are calling on participants to add some festive flair to their race day by joining the annual costume contest! This treasured Troy tradition is a prime chance to strut your creativity and add to the spirit of one of New York’s longest-running holiday road races.

This year’s costume contest offers $350 in prizes across two categories: Most Unique and Best Thanksgiving Day Costumes. Whether you’re dressing as a turkey, pilgrim or something entirely unexpected, the competition is on for the most eye-catching outfits of the day!

“The Troy Turkey Trot is more than a race – it’s a community celebration,” said Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello. “From seasoned runners to spirited trotters, everyone is welcome to get festive, share laughs and maybe even take home a prize. Best of all, participants support two vital organizations – Joseph’s House & Shelter and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.”

To enter the contest, complete the form at TroyTurkeyTrot.com/annual-costume-contest and email it, along with photos of your costume, to info@troyturkeytrot.com by 10 a.m. on Nov. 28. For an even better experience, register in person at the O Snap photo booth in the Costume Contest Area on the first floor of the Troy Atrium (4 Third St., just south of the starting line) from 6:30 – 10:30 a.m. A representative will be on hand to assist with entry forms, take your photo and display the photos on the Trot’s bulletin board in the packet pickup area.

All costume entries will be featured on the event’s Facebook page, where fans will vote by “liking” their favorites. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three in each category: $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third. Winners will be notified the week of Dec. 2.

For full details and to sign up, visit TroyTurkeyTrot.com/annual-costume-contest.

This year’s event is generously supported by Pioneer, WGNA-FM, Maria College, Wm. J. Fagan & Sons, Capital Region Honda Dealers and Choice Physical Therapy.
